Well your probably wondering why there is a picture of a kidney on my blog and why I am going to kind of journal as a blogpost. The only reason I am sharing this is more for myself than anything. I just about deleted this post (again) because I was unsure of sending it out. I don't want people to worry and I don't want attention either so I just go back and forth on if I should send it or not. Here goes anyway...
In February, I had some routine blood work done because I thought if Heith and I decided we want to try and have kids later this year I should see how healthy I am before hand and get a comparison from last years blood work. My blood work came back with a high level of Creatinine. Here is a medical description of what that is because I was naive and had no clue.
"Creatinine is a chemical waste molecule that is generated from muscle metabolism. It is transported through the blood stream to the kidneys. The Kidney's filter most of it out and then dispose of it through your urine."
A high level of Creatinine is normally a sign of kidney failure. If your Creatinine levels are high it is a sign of poor clearance by the kidneys.
My OB suggested we retest 3 months later and just see if maybe it was a false positive reading but unfortunately the 2nd test had similar results. I was referred to go to my Primary Care Physician who ordered more blood work :), urine sample, and a renal ultrasound. Good news is my Ultrasound came back good which means my kidneys are not physically affected yet by whatever is going on. Bad news is I still have to go see the AZ Kidney Disease Center on Friday to run more tests and see what could be causing this. Since I am not on dialysis, not an alcoholic, don't take Aspirin everyday, and am not a body builder, it just isn't normal for me to have a high level in my blood for my age and condition of health I am in.
I have been telling myself not to worry until there is something to worry about and right now these are all just precautions my doctor is taking. So I am not too nervous about this yet. :) I am asking for Prayer just so I don't become a little neurotic worrier about this when I can't control the outcome anyway. So far doing pretty good but never hurts to have some prayer warriors on my side. :) I'll keep you posted!
Thanks for listening

I think ANY type of medical mystery, big or small, is stressful and I think it's great that you posted about it. We'll be praying that it's no big deal and that the Drs can figure it out quickly so you're not left wondering!
